Description: A curated selection of PASHIAS’ recent and past artworks were presented as part of “NiMAC - The Shop”, alongside ceramic creations by Constantinos Stephanou, attempting to bring forth artistic creations in terms of a product that can be viewed, sold and purchased. In a time of economic instability for the art market, it becomes of great importance to translate cultural practices into tangible formulations that can be assimilated into an individual’s environment, ensuring both the consumption of art products in everyday life and the support for artists. The selection of artworks to be taken home, includes 3D-sculpted statues from PASHIAS’ solo exhibition “Carry me home” that took place in 2019, as well as the transformation of visual elements and ideological formulations from recent research project “I’ve made you a palm-tree” into houseware objects, such as velvet pillow cases and hanging hand-manipulated paper prints. The museum’s shop is open for the duration of group exhibition “Seeking Roots” curated by Ioulita Toumazi, bringing together young Cypriot artists to present work centred around the role of cultural ‘roots’, traditions and heritage in performing and redefining local identities.
