Action: The artist is placed onto a white wooden plinth in the gallery’s basement floor, that is the exact same height as the room minus the artist’s height. As a result, the artist’s head touches onto the ceiling, to appear as if he is holding up the gallery’s first floor. Audience members enter the space one by one in specific time intervals, in order to observe the artist standing in for a pillar, move around him and inhabit surrounding space. The artist remains still in his chosen position for exactly one hour, allowing for viewers to shift their attention towards observing each other and initiate a process of social engagement, through their gaze, body posture and position. Once the duration of sixty minutes is over, the gallery’s lights are turned off, the artist descends from his plinth and exits the space.
