Description: In continuation of their collaboration, Lia Haraki and PASHIAS worked together for the promotional photography and visual design of the live piece "Humping" that took place for the festival "Cyprus Choreography Platform 2019". Presented in the form of an erotic ritual, Haraki’s work explores sensual connection and the quality of compassionate intimacy, through the driving force of reproductive ‘instinct’. Moving beyond the stigmatization of the erotic act by pornographic industries or religious ideologies, "Humping" presents the vulnerable sensitivity and necessity of coexistence that is evident within sexual interaction. Highlighting the materiality of elements employed in the set, PASHIAS’ design encompasses action in terms of sharp shapes and forms, penetrated softly by on-stage bodies, to formulate an erotic ritual of illusions and ‘realities’. Providing a platform of exploration for Haraki’s physical and conceptual movement, viewers are presented with iterations of shape, as a mountain, an obstacle, a bed, a plinth and a frame to be inhabited by present bodies.
