Diet Mediterran

Performance / Part of event "Performance & Live Art Platform 2012" curated by Yiota Demetriou / Foundation of Cultural Creativity / Larnaca - Cyprus / July - 2012 / Duration: 45'

Material: artist's body, turquoise sirwal, white table, 2 white chairs, plexiglass pyramid, plexiglass square tray, red meat, chocolate, eggs, chicken, fish, cheese, olives, cucumbers, parsley, nuts, beans, apples, grapes, bread, audience members

Action: The audience encounters a space with a table and two chairs placed on top of each other. The artist enters the space holding a transparent pyramid and begins to place it in a number of positions in relation to his body, on the floor and on the table, before placing the pyramid upside-down in the empty space between the chair’s legs. He exits the space and enters again with a transparent tray of red meat pieces. The meat is placed with care in layers at the bottom of the upside-down pyramid, whilst establishing eye contact with one audience member. This process is repeated for each selected ingredient according to a basic composition of the nutritional plan for the Mediterranean diet, until the pyramid is filled up completely. Finally, the tray is placed on top of the pyramid and two audience members are invited to assist the artist in turning the pyramid over onto the table. The artist places the chairs at each side of the table and invites the two audience members to sit, before exiting the space.
