Description: In Lia Haraki’s live piece "Body Unmuted" that took place in both Nicosia and Limassol, the artist proposed an audible experience of confessions made by her body, not usually said and not commonly heard. The sound pieces were created by Haraki in ‘real’ time, as her voice was recorded during a ‘situation’ that was actually happening. Through Haraki and PASHIAS’ collaboration on the happening’s promotional photography and its visual design, the recordings were presented alongside individual installations, composed of geometric volumes and flat surfaces, in order to create a number of domestic set scenarios inhabited by the viewer in accordance to the recorded content. Viewers entered each scenario and placed their body in a particular position indicated by written instructions, to stimulate a diverse set of feelings, empathy or identification. "Body Unmuted" was proposed as a sound exhibition or a journey around the room’s periphery, directed towards the center of each visitor. Specific installations were chosen as part of the exhibition "XXV", celebrating twenty-five years of activity by NiMAC (Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre) curated by Maria Efstathiou and Xenios Symeonides, presented in the form of an audio-visual recollection of the institution’s archives.
