Description: By establishing the body’s presence within the 'space' and 'time' of the viewer, performance art workshop “Artists in Progress” led by mentor and visual artist PASHIAS, invites participants to come in conversation with the image, the object and the relational connections produced, in order to expand their mode of practice into a new vocabulary of tools, values and notions provided by the field of performance art. A series of live actions were presented as work in progress at Dancehouse Lefkosia, allowing viewers to witness a woman covered in flour, a woman eating a broccoli soup, a woman with only one leg, a woman wrapped in bandages, a woman with a mop on her head, a woman drinking wine through a face mask and a woman painting a rainbow on the floor. In the pandemic era, the workshop and live actions took place in accordance to new conditions employing individual and social safety measures, through which the relational reality and experience of a social encounter with the live artwork is manifested, forcing the dimension of interactivity into redefinition. This reimagined immediacy and materiality offered by live action, initiates a process that aims to overcome the currently obligatory spatial distance.
